Hearing the various whispers from the onlookers, Gu Lan, who was carrying a basket of groceries, said proudly, “What’s the big deal? Our Prime Minister said that when the consort was happy, he could go shopping and buy whatever he wanted. And if he was not happy, he could still keep on shopping. It was a way to relax.”

As Gu Tingshu walked out of the jewelry store, he happened to hear Gu Lan’s voice and couldn’t help but feel awkward. He thought, how embarrassing! With a wry smile, he said, “Xiao Lan, were you making up stories again?”

Hearing Gu Tingshu’s voice, Gu Lan stuck out his tongue, “Of course not, young master. What did you buy?”

“I bought a hairpin for my wife.” Gu Tingshu shook the white jade hairpin in his hand.

Gu Lan paused, then grinned. “Ah, it’s for the Prime Minister! It’s really beautiful.”

While the master and servant were conversing, someone in the crowd exclaimed in surprise, “He is the Prime Minister’s husband… I saw him when he got married.”

As soon as this statement was made, everyone in the crowd stared at Gu Tingshu as if they wanted to scrutinize him from head to toe.

“The Prime Minister’s husband is really handsome.”

“Yes! He was really amazing. I wondered how he managed to firmly grasp a woman’s heart. I’d love to know.”

Gu Tingshu looked at the crowd whispering around him, but he didn’t dare to step forward. All he could do was give an embarrassed smile .

Where did they get such exaggerated ideas?

Finally, a dignified man in his late twenties walked up to him.

“I, Mo Yu, husband to the Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Works, pays respects to the Prime Minister’s husband.”

Gu Tingshu was stunned and waved his hand, “Oh, there’s no need for such formality, you can just call me Tingshu.”

“In that case, I won’t stand on ceremony. May I invite you for a cup of tea?” Mo Yu said nervously, afraid of being rejected.

Gu Ting Shu nodded. “Okay.”

Mo Yu smiled gently and pointed to a tea house ahead. “Thank you, let’s go to that tea house ahead, it’s quite nice.”
