HBBMAWH Chapter 101

"Kid, who are you? How did you end up here? Where are your parents?" Although the scene appeared eerie no matter how you looked at it, the soldier still adhered to the noble virtues of respecting the elderly and caring for the young and expressed concern for the child.

But he still couldn't understand how a child could appear in such a place! It simply didn't make sense.

Moreover, this child seemed inexplicably strange.

Wearing a small green straw hat, the hat is tilted to one side and occasionally shakes, making people wonder if there is something hidden inside the hat. He wears a longevity lock on his body and dressed in a finely woven light blue outfit, he looked like a child from a wealthy household.

But the key point is that the area around here is deserted. The nearest town was ten miles away, and during the holiday seasons, they would occasionally visit the only tavern in town for a drink. But that town was impoverished, exposed to the wind and sun every day, and even the children had sun-darkened skin, showing a reddish hue beneath the darkness.

So, seeing such a fair-skinned child standing here was truly inexplicable.

There was always a faint smell of wilderness in the air. Xiaobing's mind raced, and he suddenly shuddered. Looking at the child who showed no fear, holding a still squirming rabbit in his hands, he felt even more unsettled.

"Could it be... a monster?" The soldier's legs trembled. He wasn't afraid of going to battle or fighting with others, but he dared not confront ghosts or monsters.

He was terrified.

"Don't come any closer! I'm calling for help, boss! Come save me!" The soldier shouted to his superior, his voice trembling with fear.

"What's going on? Why are you shouting like you've seen a ghost?" Chen Nan's voice came with a hint of disdain. These people were really a handful, all grown-ups, but still making a fuss like this.

The little soldier was sweating in his heart. Boss, it really seems like a ghost, and that little ghost even sarcastically rolled his eyes. Really! Just when he shouted for help, he saw the little ghost roll his eyes at him with his own eyes.

Chen Nan walked over, momentarily stunned to see a child here.

The soldier's voice was trembling.

"Boss, is that a ghost?"

"Ghost your big head! That's a person, are you an idiot?" Chen Nan scolded, wondering what kind of fools he was raising if they couldn't even recognize a person, let alone a child.

You know, this kid looks kind of familiar, like someone he's seen before. Who could it be? Chen Nan couldn't recall for a moment.

"Hey, kid, where are your parents?" Chen Nan lowered his voice, starting to coax the child like a strange uncle. This adult is too arrogant. There are wolves here, and he wasn't even worried the child might get carried off by one.

Little did he know, before Chen Nan could finish speaking, the child shot him a disdainful glance, patted his butt, and bounced away.

The speed is quite fast too.

The soldier chuckled. Heh, even their boss got scorned by this little brat!

"Laugh all you want! Go catch up with him!" There really were wolves ahead.

Qingke had only taken a few steps before someone started chasing after him. Jiang Manyue didn't expect that his son would just run away quietly without looking back. Despite all the soldiers around, nobody noticed when he slipped away.

Jiang Manyue crouched down to the child's height. "Son, what do you have there in your hands?"

Qingke lifted it up. The bleeding rabbit's legs twitched a few times and then became completely stiff. Possibly scared to death by the human cub. Qingke is very confused. Father was so dumb; he couldn't even recognize a bunny.

"Bunny! Good to eat!" With such a dumb father, he had to explain it all over again clearly.

Unexpectedly, he was confronted with his son's sympathetic eyes. Jiang Manyue felt like he was failing as a father.

"Father knows it's a bunny, but where did Keke's bunny come from?" The wound on the rabbit looked like it was from an arrow, probably hunted by someone. How did it end up in his son's hands?

Qingke thought for a moment and then shoved the rabbit into Jiang Manyue's hands.

"Picked it up. There! Bunny, bang! Thud! Fell down." Qingke used hand gestures to describe the process of a clumsy rabbit hitting a tree and falling and being picked up by him.

Now he's even learned how to fool his father. Did he think his father was stupid? It was such an obvious arrow wound.

"Children who tell lies aren't good."

Upon hearing Jiang Manyue's words, Qingke stopped speaking altogether and pounced on Jiang Manyue, wrapping his arms around his neck and acting spoiled.

The old father was delighted by his son's affection and lifted him up with one hand. Then he saw the owner of the lost rabbit approaching, and the soldier who had lost it immediately shouted when he saw the stolen item in Jiang Manyue's hands.

"That's my rabbit!"

Jiang Manyue squinted, recognizing him as the owner. The child shook his head when he saw the soldier approaching. The bunny he pickled up was his!

When Chen Nan arrived, he initially didn't see who was holding the child, but as he approached, he suddenly froze. Wasn't that Jiang Manyue? What is he doing here...

Although urgent messages from the court had reached the border, informing them of the imminent arrival of the Carefree Prince, many people didn't take it seriously, thinking it was just for show.

Can these princes who have been pampered since childhood endure the hard days in the military camp? It was likely just a show, a way for them to gain some prestige before returning to the capital.

However, it was said that this Carefree Prince wielded immense power, even able to remove General Liu Neng directly. In case of emergency, everything would be at the Prince's command.

To be given such authority by the Emperor, it piqued their curiosity a little. But this was war, not a noble outing, and the entire camp was not eager for the arrival of such a person.

The only somewhat good news was that this Carefree Prince had brought supplies, which would greatly alleviate the shortage of food in their army.

As for the prince's true identity, they were unaware, so Chen Nan was also unaware of who this so-called Carefree Prince was. Seeing Jiang Manyue now was truly astonishing.

"Brother Jiang, what are you doing here!? Chen Nan, who was clearly older than Jiang Manyue, but still couldn't shake off the habit of calling him brother, startled the soldier.

No way. His boss was in his thirties this year, with a scruffy beard, looking weathered and old.

But the person Chen Nan called "brother" - he looked no more than twenty years old, and the little baby in his arms looked like his son at first glance. His eyes sparkled like stars, his skin as fair as sheep's milk, and he was excessively handsome, unlike the rough-faced men who were constantly exposed to the desert winds.

Xiaobing couldn't help but touch his face. It was a bit rough, so he retracted his hand. The big brother's face looked like it would be nice to touch.

His skincare routine must be really good. What did he used to be older than their boss but still look so young and fair?

Heh heh, he also wanted to get some lotion and pamper his face a bit.

He also wanted to be fairer and tenderer. That way, when they went to the nearest tavern in town, the proprietress would give him a discount just for being good-looking. If this big brother went to buy alcohol, the flirtatious landlady might give away the entire stock.

"Me? I'm here by decree."

Chen Nan raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Brother Jiang, are you the Carefree Prince who has taken up the position of the Governor this time?"

"No, I'm not," Jiang Manyue denied outright.

Chen Nan was taken aback. Not him? Oh, right, Jiang Manyue never mentioned this in the letter he gave him. How could he forget?

"Then..."

The attendant beside them interjected, "The Prince is not here, this is our Princess Consort."

The attendant turned out to be someone trained by the Emperor, with an austere demeanor that revealed no unnecessary emotions. He said this matter-of-factly, almost causing Chen Nan to bite his tongue.

"Princess Consort?"

Jiang Manyue's expression twitched for a moment. It was just that this bodyguard was too serious. Speaking such words with a straight face made it even more strange.

Fortunately, Jiang Manyue had a high level of mental resilience. He nodded without feeling embarrassed at all. In this regard, Chen Nan felt inferior.

He was still immersed in the tremendous impact brought by the two words "Princess Consort."

"Why are you here?" Jiang Manyue asked.

"We were hunting rabbits," Chen Nan's gaze fell on the rabbit in Jiang Manyue's hands, which had already breathed its last breath.

Jiang Manyue's hand paused, almost forgetting that the stolen goods were still in his hand. This question was quite embarrassing. Fortunately, Yan Cai's appearance diverted attention away from the awkward question.

"Hey, Manyue, what are you doing here? Oh, and a rabbit too?"

Yan Cai leaned over and spotted Chen Nan. Honestly, he was starting to forget what Chen Nan looked like, but in this situation, naturally, the only person he knew here came to mind.

Chen Nan also started to understand. If Jiang Manyue was the Princess Consort, then the newly arrived Prince would be...

Several guards barked, "Haven't you greeted His Highness yet?"

These people were all appointed by the Emperor, and apart from the Emperor, they only followed Yan Cai's orders.

"H-His Highness... greetings," Chen Nan stammered.

The iron-faced guards added, "And also the Princess Consort and the young Prince."

"Greetings to His Highness, the Princess Consort, and the young prince," Chen Nan added awkwardly, his expression becoming even more peculiar.

Yan Cai felt this was not a big deal. These iron-faced, selfless elder brothers were always shouting at people whenever they saw them, which made him feel quite embarrassed. On the other hand, Jiang Manyue's mental resilience was indeed high; he didn't seem to be affected at all.

Yan Cai had to tell those guards that there was no need to be so formal in the military camp in the future.

The guards nodded, but whether they would actually listen and act accordingly, Yan Cai couldn't be sure. But he didn't have time to dwell on this issue; he was very busy.

This trip out was indeed beneficial. Look what good things he found.

Yan Cai's hands were covered with dirt, and even his face was dirty, but he was very happy.

In his hands was something irregularly shaped, like a tuber covered in muddy purple skin. Yan Cai waved it in front of Jiang Manyue.

"I found something good! Look! It's delicious!"

Sure enough, good deeds brought good rewards. Just passing by, he noticed some wild grass by the roadside that seemed like a type of food he had seen before. So, he suddenly ordered the carriage to stop, and sure enough, he found the good thing he had in mind.

what he actually saw were just some tender branches and leaves, and the roots underneath were still very small. These were all prompted to grow larger by Yan Cai when no one was paying attention.

Sure enough, it's exactly what he was looking for!
