HBBMAWH Chapter 49

For someone who appears so young, it's difficult for people to believe that he possesses the miraculous healing touch. However, Zhu Zheng has no choice but to believe.

Seemingly to dispel others' suspicions, Yan Cai walked up to Zhu Zheng, said a quick apology, and then took hold of his wrist, examining Zhu Zheng's body.

After a while, he said, "Your stomach isn't in great condition... you often feel heartburn and acidity. Your left leg has been injured before; it tends to ache in the winter..."

"How did you know?"

Yan Cai gave a faint smile, mysteriously remaining silent. He then turned to County Magistrate Xu and said, "Don't you want to give it a try?"

"I don't want to... Stop it! This is an assault on an official!" However, despite County Magistrate Xu's protests, Yan Cai's hand was already on his wrist, firmly grasping it, making it impossible for him to break free.

The constables, initially thinking of intervening, observed that County Magistrate Xu remained still. Some considered it his consent, and others, curious, watched the scene unfold. Even those who had thought of stepping forward to intervene hesitated.

Yan Cai squinted his eyes, tilting his head slightly. After a while, he revealed a somewhat unpleasant expression.

He said innocently and almost cruelly: "My Lord, your health doesn't seem quite good."

County Magistrate Xu, not wanting to listen, tried to break free, but Yan Cai continued, indifferent to the protests. "Other ailments are minor, but there's one that might be troublesome. My Lord, do you enjoy drinking?"

"Whether I drink or not, what does it have to do with you? Let go of me quickly; I'm going to prosecute you for your crimes."

"My Lord, you'd better not get angry. Anger can worsen your condition. Your liver isn't in great shape; you often feel pain in the liver area, right... Here and here, the pain feels like a burning sensation..."

In detail, Yan listed more than ten symptoms. With each one mentioned, County Magistrate Xu's face darkened another shade. In the end, he stood there helplessly, feet seemingly suspended, and his head muddled.

No, it couldn't be true. He couldn't believe this guy's deceit. A fraud, claiming he only had four or five years left to live.

Yan Cai grinned and said, "My Lord, it seems you only have four or five years left. You must take good care of your body, otherwise you will die."

One declaration after another, as if pronouncing his death, with a resolute tone that left no room for disbelief.

County Magistrate Xu wanted to charge this guy with a crime, but his mouth wouldn't open. Why did he feel his body's weakness was getting worse.

Jiang Manyue smiled slightly, keenly observing Yan Cai's subtle movements. Perhaps the words spoken to County Magistrate Xu were true, but it was also likely caused by Yan Cai's little tricks.

Yan Cai clapped his hands, proving that he wasn't deceiving anyone. He had just made some minor moves to make County Magistrate Xu feel uncomfortable.

Jiang Manyue took out a handkerchief and, right in front of everyone, began to wipe Yan Cai's hands. He didn't like Yan Cai touching others.

Ignoring the motionless County Magistrate Xu, Zhu Zheng, who was most anxious, couldn't hold back any longer. Initially trying to avoid suspicion and refrain from interference, Zhu Zheng couldn't resist issuing commands. As for the petrified County Magistrate Xu, he didn't care if he dropped dead.

He directly took Yan Cai to his son's room. Desperate times call for desperate measures; even if it was a ruse, he would give it a try.

"Right here."

Before entering, Yan Cai felt there were two people lying there unconscious.

Naturally, Zhu Zheng showed him his son first. As for the other unfortunate person, he didn't even spare a thought.

"My Lord, it's right here. Can you help?" Zhu Zheng used polite language when addressing Yan Cai. Yan Cai looked about the same age as his son, maybe even a bit younger.

Yan Cai raised his eyebrows; he didn't expect the extent of Zhu Yuchuan's injuries. He felt a twinge of guilt, as Zhu Yuchuan's injuries were somewhat related to him. After all, that night, Zhu Yuchuan had invited him out, and if he had agreed, Zhu Yuchuan wouldn't have encountered this situation.

Jiang Manyue patted his shoulder, and Yan Cai's tense shoulders relaxed. With Jiang Manyue's support, Yan Cai quickly regained composure, but he was unaware that Jiang Manyue's expression wasn't too pleasant. Especially when looking at Zhu Yuchuan, it seemed like he was observing a dead person.

People often value someone more out of sympathy and guilt. Jiang Manyue wouldn't give Zhu Yuchuan any chances.

"Lord Zhu, my wife's treatment requires an environment free from disturbances; we cannot have any unnecessary people around."

Zhu Zheng was dumbfounded. Why wouldn't they let him, the father, stay and watch? How could he, as a father, be considered an unnecessary person?

Moreover, isn't he present here? As if sensing his doubts, Jiang Manyue said calmly: "I am an assistant."

Zhu Zheng nearly spat out a mouthful of blood. You don't look like an assistant at all.

However, Jiang Manyue said it so calmly, implying that opposition was not allowed. Zhu Zheng swallowed back his objections.

The lead physician, Yan Cai, had also dismissed the others. Seriously, could anyone tolerate being observed while treating a patient?

With only him and Jiang Manyue awake, Yan Cai instructed Jiang Manyue to undo the bandage on Zhu Yuchuan's head and turn him over, exposing the back of his head. It seemed like Jiang Manyue was genuinely playing the role of an assistant for a moment.

Not that Yan Cai needed Jiang Manyue's guidance; it was Jiang Manyue preventing any contact between Yan Cai and Zhu Yuchuan, the bastard.

The wound at the back of the head was somewhat gruesome, and Yan Cai didn't shy away from the bloody injury. In fact, this was just like an everyday occurrence for him

Blood and killing and death.

"I'm going to start," he said.

Taking out a piece of spiritual jade, Yan Cai began using his life- ability to heal Zhu Yuchuan. The human brain is an extremely important part and treating it is highly complex. Yan Cai spent three pieces of spiritual jade to heal the injury on Zhu Yuchuan's head.

A full hour had passed.

Zhu Zheng was anxiously waiting outside the door, asking if everything was okay from time to time, but Jiang Manyue retorted that he wasn't allowed to speak. Zhu Zheng's face turned red; it had been many years since someone had spoken to him in such a tone.

Even the Emperor wouldn't speak to him so arrogantly. When Zhu Zheng was in the capital, although his official position wasn't high, he was well-liked by the Emperor, who treated him kindly.

Yan Cai shed a lot of sweat. Jiang Manyue kept wiping his sweat with a cold face until the matter was over. Yan Cai suddenly fell back and fell weakly into Jiang Manyue's arms.

"In the future, you shouldn't..."

Yan Cai shook his head, saying, "This is not a difficult problem. Don't worry about me." He just hasn't used life-ability to treat someone for a long time, and he is a little exhausted.

"You can come in now," Jiang Manyue loudly informed Zhu Zheng outside. Zhu Zheng had already become accustomed to this young man speaking without formalities. The legitimate son of the Jiang family was indeed quite peculiar.

Zhu Zheng's attention was solely on his son; he didn't bother paying any more attention to Jiang Manyue. "Why hasn't my son woken up yet?"

Yan Cai yawned, looking visibly tired. "Just splash some water on him."

Zhu Zheng was holding a bowl of water, but he couldn't bear to pour it down. Jiang Manyue nonchalantly emptied out his own bowl. Zhu Zheng stomped his foot, rolled up his sleeves, and seemed ready to confront Jiang Manyue.

"There, he's awake," Jiang Manyue said casually, as if settling a personal grudge had nothing to do with it.

Zhu Yuchuan did wake up. Opening his eyes, the world seemed dizzy, and it took a while before he could make out several people in front of him. It was all blurry, and he couldn't distinguish clearly. The first person he managed to recognize, however, was Yan Cai.

This indistinct image of Yan Cai seemed to be veiled in a light mist behind him, making his facial expression appear even gentler.

Zhu Yuchuan murmured: "Yan Cai, did you save me? I'm so touched..."

Smack. Zhu Zheng slapped him awake.

Zhu Yuchuan focused and finally saw his father.

"Father, why are you here? I... I was beaten yesterday!"

"Who beat you?" Zhu Zheng's eyes were red. He was determined to punish the person responsible.

"It's Chen Yi! It's Chen Yi!"

"He... he said he was jealous of me... Yesterday morning, I got the top score in the academy exam... In the evening, I encountered him. Initially, everything was fine, but then, for some reason, he suddenly provoked me. I retorted, and then we argued. We ended up fighting, and in the end, he lifted a piece of stone..." Zhu Yuchuan recounted to this point, his face turning fearful. Clearly, that moment had left a deep shadow on him. "He smashed... Why didn't I feel any pain?"

Zhu Yuchuan touched the back of his head, finding only a mass of hair stuck together by coagulated blood; there was no wound. Was it a dream?

"This gentleman saved you. Quickly, thank him."

"Yan Cai saved me!?"

Zhu Yuchuan quickly jumped off the bed, barefoot, and rushed towards Yan Cai. The overly eager and moved expression on his face was something Yan Cai didn't want to see, and Jiang Manyue wanted even less to witness.

The dog-skin plaster stuck again. Jiang Manyue raised his hand and said to Zhu Zheng, "Now that the culprit has been identified, My Lord, you should apprehend him and bring him to justice as soon as possible. If you delay, it's uncertain whether you'll find him."

Zhu Yuchuan also gritted his teeth bitterly and said, "Father, Chen Yi is the nephew of County Magistrate Xu. Quickly go and capture him to avenge me."

By now, County Magistrate Xu had arrived, dragging his heavy steps. However, upon learning that his nephew was the perpetrator, he was shocked. His already pale face became even more ashen.

"Where's Chen Yi?" he grabbed a steward and asked. What a bastard, causing so much trouble for him.

"The Young Master has gone out!"

"Notify everyone that Chen Yi will be arrested and brought to justice..." County Magistrate Xu exhaled a long breath, his complexion gray and defeated. He didn't know if it was because of the incident involving his nephew or because Yan Cai claimed he had a serious, incurable illness.

Even though reason told him not to believe Yan Cai's words, his subconscious had already accepted them. He had only four or five years left to live.

No, no!

County Magistrate Xu remained completely unaware. Yan Cai had a way of speaking that unconsciously conveyed a sense of mental influence, so even for the most absurd things, County Magistrate Xu was completely convinced.

Of course, the illness was not a lie. County Magistrate Xu indeed had liver cancer.

"Master Xu, your nephew hurt my son, you're quite something," Zhu Zheng spoke maliciously.

County Magistrate Xu didn't even want to explain; who would believe that Chen Yi's crime had nothing to do with him? Besides, whether there was a connection or not was irrelevant at this point.

He is dying

Dying.

Dead!

The world darkened, and everything spun. County Magistrate Xu collapsed to the ground...

Yan Cai shrugged, "Did he scare himself into fainting? Although the illness is serious, it's not like talking about it makes people pass out."

The real suspect has been found, and County Magistrate Xu, the presiding judge, has fainted. Zhu Zheng was now in charge of handling the case. Jiang Manyue and Yan Cai, having been cleared of suspicion, were allowed to go home.

Yan Cai suggested, "Isn't there still one person left? Let's treat him while we're at it."

However, Jiang Manyue was not willing, "No need to bother with him..."

Zhu Zheng agreed  instantly. Keeping that person would be troublesome, and since Yan Cai willingly volunteered to treat him, it was even better.

Yan Cai stood up and found another small bed. The bed was well-hidden in the corner of the side room, not noticeable unless one paid attention.

The person lying on the small bed was a young man of about twenty. Zhu Zheng found him somewhat familiar. Had he seen him before? Was it in the capital or here in Linhe?

If it was in the capital, it must have been six years ago. At that time, this young man should have been around thirteen or fourteen, and he must have undergone significant changes.

Unable to recognize him upon careful thought, Zhu Zheng gave up. However, there was someone in the room who knew exactly who it was.

Jiang Manyue also didn't expect this person to appear here. It was quite a coincidence. Yan Cai, who understood Jiang Manyue well, noticed the subtle change in his expression.

"Do you know him?"

"Yeah."

Jiang Manyue whispered in Yan Cai's ear, "I knew him in my past life. He is the current Third Prince."

Yan Cai's mouth fell open in surprise. Shouldn't a prince be in the imperial palace? How could he be here...

"Do we save him or not?"
