IBFAIBPMSH Chapter 8

After watching TV last night, Bai Gaoxing makes the following decisions:

One: He is innocent.

Two: Everything he says is learned from TV.

Three: He should watch more TV when he has nothing to do so that Li Pu will believe his behavior is TV-inspired.

Since the TV is an electronic device, being taught by a robot vacuum isn’t entirely out of the question either.

After being a parrot for three days, Bai Gaoxing has completely let himself go and doesn’t find it shameful at all to call someone “Master.” In fact, it’s quite useful—If he isn’t mistaken, after he calls out that title, not only is Li Pu surprised, but the corners of his mouth lift a little—he’s obviously in a good mood.

Well, Bai Gaoxing figures he is fulfilling his duties as a "pet." After all, this person is also pitiful.

Bai Gaoxing looks at Li Pu with sympathy and urges him to eat again.

He watches as the man walks past him and glances into the cage. Li Pu’s usually calm expression shifts to one of surprise.

Yes, that’s right, the food box is empty again. Bai Gaoxing puffs up his chest. Isn’t it normal to get hungry quickly when you're this active?

“So greedy,” Li Pu mutters, tapping the parrot’s fluffy head before refilling the food box.

Bai Gaoxing enters the cage with ease, but out of the corner of his eye, he sees Li Pu carrying a bag into the kitchen. He pauses, and suddenly, the feed doesn’t seem so appetizing.

“I really want to eat something meant for humans…”

He pecks at a few tasteless nutritional pellets before hopping out of the cage to amuse himself. At that moment, his gaze lands on the aquarium he fell into on his first day.

The aquarium is clearly custom-made—wide, transparent, and high-end. It’s embedded in the wall with a platform, about a palm wide, jutting out from the bottom. A group of colorful fish swim gracefully inside, their vibrant forms even more striking against the dark background.

Ever since that day, the man has kept the lid closed. Maybe he’s worried Bai Gaoxing will fall in again? Either way, Bai Gaoxing appreciates the gesture.

Bored, Bai Gaoxing starts watching the fish, pressing his beak closer and closer to the glass, which causes the fish to mistake him for food. They swim over with the same aggressive energy they had the day he fell into the tank.

When Li Pu emerges from the kitchen, he sees the large white parrot aggressively pecking at the fish tank, while the mapfish inside crowd the glass as if ready for a showdown.

“… Dabai.” He calls out, and Dabai turns his head before stumbling toward him.

Li Pu places the plate in his hand onto the table with a thud, catching the big parrot as it launches itself at his chest and struggles to climb up. A small smile tugs at the corners of his lips.

Today’s lunch has sausages.

Bai Gaoxing feels like he has been battling with food ever since he arrived in this world. But what can he do? The thought of spending his days eating bird food fills him with despair.

He steals a glance at the man beside him. Seeing that Li Pu isn’t paying too much attention, Bai Gaoxing takes the opportunity to jump from his shoulder onto the dining table.

It is impossible to admit defeat. Before you can eat freely, any effort is worth it!

“Dabai!”

After taking a couple of bites of sausage, Bai Gaoxing, now locked back in his cage, almost sheds tears of happiness.

...

Bai Gaoxing concludes from daily observation that Li Pu can cook.

And not just casually—his cooking isn’t a simple stir-fry or stew. The food Li Pu makes is truly exceptional, which is why Bai Gaoxing insists on sneaking some whenever he can.

Given his career, the fact that Li Pu can cook is even more surprising.

In Bai Gaoxing's imagination, a movie emperor should be someone who always has people offering door-to-door services. They handle all the household chores, from cooking and cleaning to getting him dressed. It’s a bit like a domineering CEO. If technology allowed, they’d probably even help him go to the toilet!

But now, reality shatters his assumptions.

In his day-to-day life, Li Pu is just like any ordinary person. He even goes to the supermarket to buy groceries! How does he not get recognized?

After sneaking out of the cage again, Bai Gaoxing tiptoes into the kitchen and sees the bag Li Pu brought back that morning, filled with fresh fruits and vegetables. Li Pu is now carefully preparing a fish.

“Dabai, get off,” Li Pu mutters, feeling the weight on his back and shoulders. Bai Gaoxing pretends not to hear, stubbornly clinging to the fabric of Li Pu’s shoulder and craning his neck to look down.

The man is carefully filleting the fish and has no free hand to chase him away.

A few minutes later, Li Pu places the fish into the sink to wash, cleaning off the fishy smell from his hands, before reaching for a water cup from the kitchen counter.

"Hmm?" After picking it up, he pauses and squints, examining the water in the cup.

At that moment, Bai Gaoxing, who has just hopped onto the counter, feels the weight of Li Pu’s gaze.

He glances at the cup and realizes that earlier, when he was really thirsty, he drank most of the water in it.

Plus, the kitchen door hadn’t been completely shut...

He is obviously caught.

Bai Gaoxing, looking completely innocent, wobbles back and forth on the counter, deliberately avoiding eye contact with him.

Then, he is unceremoniously kicked out of the kitchen, followed by the sound of the stove being lit.

He must really care about small animals! Li Pu must want to make sure he doesn’t become deep-fried parrot...

When Li Pu emerges from the kitchen, Bai Gaoxing notices that this time, he not only brings out several dishes but also a small plate.

On it is a small piece of snow-white fish, perfectly cooked and tender, accompanied by a little bit of light fish broth.

But when the plate is placed in front of him, Bai Gaoxing freezes in surprise, looking back and forth between the man and the plate.

For me??

Li Pu chuckles.

In his eyes, the big white parrot looks down at the plate, then looks back up at him, appearing adorably confused.

As for the fish... Li Pu checks the breeding manual and does some online research. After confirming that this species of parrot can eat a little meat, he sets aside a piece of the fish he has prepared for lunch.

That was it.

Li Pu pushes the plate forward, causing the light-colored broth to ripple slightly. "Don’t you want to eat?"

Bai Gaoxing, thinking the man has had a change of heart, stretches his head out and takes a taste—“Puh! Puh! Puh!”

Not only is it devoid of oil and salt, but the taste is bland and fishy. Maybe only a cat or a turtle could stomach something like this.

Isn’t he supposed to be a good cook? Bai Gaoxing gives Li Pu a suspicious glance before eyeing the large bowl of stewed fish instead.

Li Pu remains silent.

He retrieves the plate, the faint aroma of the fish drifting into his nose, but that’s the extent of it.

His research indicates that parrots don’t need extra salt in their diet—similar to dogs—so he hasn’t added even a pinch of salt, simply boiling the fish in plain water.

So it doesn’t taste good, huh...

Then—“Dabai!”

Bai Gaoxing, who has just bitten down on the tail of the stewed fish, freezes.

...

【Don’t forget to come for a follow-up check today.】 - Dr. An

【Brother Li, Dr. An scheduled you for 2 p.m., don’t forget!】 - Half an hour ago from Dashu.

Bai Gaoxing yawns, then turns to see Li Pu’s phone, tossed on the couch, lighting up with new messages.

His yawn abruptly stops midway. He quickly flies over to the phone and tries pressing the most prominent part of his claw on the unlock button.

"Buzz~" No luck.

"Buzz~"

"Buzz~"

After three attempts, the phone switches to password mode, and at that moment, Li Pu comes out of the bedroom.

He has changed his clothes and is clearly heading out. As expected...

Recalling the messages, Bai Gaoxing easily remembers what he overheard earlier—something about a doctor, from that person named Peter Wang.

So, this man really does need human care and medical treatment!

Suddenly, it all makes sense—why Li Pu spends hours in silence each day, and why he hasn’t had the energy to play with him anymore.

Bai Gaoxing watches as Li Pu picks up his phone and heads for the door. After a moment of hesitation, the parrot quickly reacts, flapping his wings and landing on Li Pu’s shoulder, attempting to sneak out with him.

Unfortunately, he fails.

The flapping of wings always makes a sound. Li Pu hears it just as he is about to open the door. Without moving his hand from the handle, he turns his head and says, “Dabai, why don’t you go back to the cage?”

Bai Gaoxing gives in immediately, flying back to the sofa.

Click. The door closes, and Li Pu’s footsteps gradually fade away.

Bai Gaoxing stares blankly for a moment before flying to the balcony, peeking through the French window to catch a glimpse of Li Pu.

Two minutes later, Li Pu appears in his line of sight, now wearing a mask and a pair of plain glasses as he gets into a car, fully disguised.

Watching the car drive away, Bai Gaoxing once again feels a strong desire to escape.

He has to find a way out!

...

On the other side, Li Pu arrives at the hospital.

He takes the elevator to the psychology department on the ninth floor, navigating the building with ease. When he enters the office, a young man in a white coat sits behind a laptop, typing away without looking up. “How have you been feeling lately?” he asks.

“Not bad,” Li Pu replies, settling into the chair across from him.

“And how’s your sleep?”

“Eight hours a day.”

“Oh... sounds like you're on vacation again. When's your next movie?”

“In about a month.”

“Do you feel worse this time compared to before?”

Li Pu smiles. “There’s no real problem this time.”

“‘No real problem,’ huh?” the young man repeats, the meaning behind his words unclear.

After about five minutes, the young man finally raises his head from the laptop. The name tag on his chest reads An Xin.

He has been frowning before, but after adjusting his glasses and taking a closer look at Li Pu, his tone softens, and his expression becomes much gentler.

“Not bad. You finally listened to my advice?”

Feeling An Xin’s pointed gaze, Li Pu looks down and notices a snow-white feather stuck to his collar.
