IBFAIBPMSH Chapter 26

Two days later, Bai Gaoxing seizes the opportunity again when Li Pu is out and enters the study openly.

He enters the password, unlocks the computer in a second, and logs into the platform.

Since posting three short videos a while back, the account hasn’t been logged in again. It’s not because he’s too lazy to check, but because he couldn’t find a chance to secretly use Li Pu’s phone.

So... would it be weird if a parrot asks its owner for a phone to play with?

Bai Gaoxing’s thoughts start to become illogical. While entertaining the possibility of such a plan, he clicks on the Firefly Live streaming Platform.

As soon as he enters, his eyes fall on the lower right corner, where bright numbers flash once again.

It’s an expected situation. After all, he got quite a few likes shortly after posting. With the accumulated popularity over the past few days, it certainly isn’t going to be too bad.

Would it be a few hundred likes, or better yet, three or five thousand?

With a mix of nerves and anticipation, Bai Gaoxing clicks into the interface, and his pupils immediately contract!

Three works—two with over 8,000 likes, one with over 9,000 likes, and it’s about to reach tens of thousands. There are even many people privately messaging him, saying that Dabai is so cute and asking for more videos. His follower count has even gone up by hundreds.

This is truly beyond his expectations.

An account that is practically inactive manages to get such impressive stats in just a few days—especially when the videos he posted aren’t exactly hilarious or particularly unique, without many standout moments—it's pretty surprising.

Bai Gaoxing ponders the inherent popularity of cute pets for a moment and happily posts another video.

This time, he uses the computer’s built-in webcam, which is much more convenient than using a phone. All he has to do is slowly walk toward the camera, press his face close to the lens, say a stylish "I love you~" with a smooch, and finish it off with a wink at the camera.

He has seen this style in videos before—many parrot owners film this way. The only difference is how clearly the parrots can talk, how well they cooperate with the actions, whether their expressions are cute, and, of course, the editing skills of the creators—

Naturally, Bai Gaoxing doesn’t count on Li Pu. It’s more reliable if he just walks in sync with the rhythm.

Glancing at the time, it’s just before 9 AM. Based on Li Pu's last outing, Bai Gaoxing estimates he has about two hours to stream.

Feeling excited, he enters the live streaming room.

 ...

The account suspected to be Li Pu’s is live again.

After the last live stream, someone passed the word to a fan group. Although it’s only a handful of the thousands of fans, and the buzz isn’t big, Li Pu's die-hard fans aren’t going to overlook even the smallest hint.

Ah... even though everyone only has about 0.01% confidence that this is actually Li Pu's real account.

Soon, many people start raising questions.

Since this is about the Emperor of the Silver Screen, people claim they’re too lazy to check, but in reality, some are secretly keeping an eye on the account.

Wu Qingqing is one of them.

She should have uninstalled the app after receiving the red envelope last time, but she doesn’t want to miss this clue, so she keeps it on her phone. For several days, she sees no activity from the account. The browsing history is set to private, so it’s impossible to know if the account owner has used it during this time. But if it really is Li Pu, it’s possible he hasn’t looked at it at all.

At that moment, the usually quiet group chat of 100 people suddenly buzzes with activity, and nearly 100 new messages appear in a short time.

【I checked. Star Entertainment hasn’t released any news during this period... If it’s really Li Pu running this account, could he be acting spontaneously?】

【Think about Li Pu’s habit. He never publicly shares information during his vacations! It’s highly unlikely.】

【I checked Weibo. The last time Li Pu posted on his personal account was last month, right after finishing filming.】

【By the way, the free-range chicken is amazing. 【suck hard.jpg】】

【Whether it’s him or not, I’m following this account anyway. Watching cute pets when you’ve got free time is nice. Dabai is the smartest internet-famous parrot I’ve ever seen!】

【Did you see the videos posted by that account a few days ago? Three in a row.】

【Yeah, all three feature that big parrot. A marketing account taking the cute pet route?】

【Honestly, I’m convinced this is just a high-quality imitation of Li Pu’s account. The account posts so much content, how could it be related to our Li Pu? 【dog head.jpg】】

【To the person above, you should check for the anti-counterfeit logo!】

【Li Pu has never posted videos or done live streams... Until it's confirmed, we should wait. Haven't our fandom been teased enough by others as “sheep-herding villagers”? 【cry.jpg】】

【…】

In the midst of the banter and debate, a message suddenly breaks through:

【F*! That account is live streaming again! Go watch!】

Seeing the message, Wu Qingqing, who has been lying in bed, quickly sits up and anxiously clicks into the live stream room.

She deliberately glances at the top-left corner. The viewer count this time is much higher than last time—more than 300, and it’s still climbing.

It makes sense. The news has spread to multiple fan groups, and it isn’t just one. It’s normal for people to rush in after hearing about it.

Bai Gaoxing notices this too.

Just a few minutes after starting the stream, as he’s about to speak, he sees the number of viewers rising at an abnormal rate.

It’s too fast.

He’s so startled that he nearly kicks the mouse away and wants to bury his head in a pillow, terrified that Li Pu will come back and catch him red-handed.

What’s a guilty conscience? This is a guilty conscience!

Fortunately, he manages to hold himself back and observe the comments for a while. He realizes that none of Li Pu’s fans have commented yet, and he relaxes a little.

They must’ve just come to watch the cute pets...

Putting aside his panic, Bai Gaoxing grabs the microphone and begins chatting.

The parrot on the screen is white, fluffy, and irresistibly cute.

Everything about it, from its adorable posture to the way it speaks, is utterly charming.

Li Pu's fans watching the stream are deep in thought. Could this really be a pet raised by Li Pu himself? And even if it is, who taught it these lines? Li Pu... doesn’t seem like someone who would teach a parrot to say these things.

Wu Qingqing even checks Li Pu’s Weibo album but finds no mention of it.

Meanwhile, the group chat is buzzing with secret discussions:

【What do we do? Do you think it’s him?】

【There’s no way to confirm... Just wait and see, don’t spook anyone.】

Yes, the fans have already made a pact: until they’re absolutely sure, they won’t raise any alarms. If it really is Li Pu, and they get too excited and scare off someone just trying to show off their pet, it would be a huge loss!

Play it cool. Don’t say anything crazy!

At that moment, Li Pu’s fans are more united than ever before.

【Barrage: Aaaah! This is amazing! How did the host train this silly bird to talk so well?】

【Barrage: Parrots are really smart, but why is the host so quiet?】

【Barrage: The host let Dabai do the whole livestream. Brilliant! Dabai is incredible too!】

【Barrage: Host, are you there? Say something and I’ll send you a big gift!】

It’s hard for the viewers to believe a parrot can carry on such a long conversation. Everyone in the stream wants to see what kind of unique person the owner is.

But Bai Gaoxing is used to this. During the first live stream, many had asked where the "master" was. It seems he’s too outstanding at his role…

Bai Gaoxing looks dramatically up at the sky in mock sadness, then lowers his head and playfully shakes it, saying, "The master is out, he’s not home."

"He goes out without me, and I’m mad."

"Don’t ask about him; chat with me instead!"

【Aaaah, so cute! Yes, forget about the boring master; let’s talk with Dabai!】

【OMG ×10086, this is amazing! A friend recommends this to me...】

【Didn’t they say you’re not allowed to gain spirit powers after the founding of the country?】

【It really seems like the master puts a lot of effort into teaching Dabai these words...】

【I’m sure someone’s watching from the sidelines~】

Bai Gaoxing stares at the barrage as his heartbeat quickens.

Li Pu’s fans also feel their hearts race.

The fans nearly forget that aside from themselves, there are many random viewers in the stream, and it isn’t impossible for someone to notice something and ask the obvious questions.

What should they do? Flood the chat! If the comments move fast enough, no one will notice anything suspicious.

Just as Bai Gaoxing is about to answer some simple, safe questions, he sees the barrage bar freeze for a second, only to explode with messages and flashing gifts at a dizzying speed.

@LiCatCute sends you 1 candy

@IsItLiCatOrRaccoonCat sends you 1 cake

@AllRaccoonCatsUnited sends you 1 milk tea

Bai Gaoxing stares at the gift notifications, a bit confused. He understands that viewers send gifts when they enjoy a livestream, but why… are all the senders named something related to “raccoon cats”?

Did they come as a group?

At that moment, the leader of the Li Pu fan group facepalms in frustration: 【Why don’t you all change your usernames already!】

Things then return to normal. Bai Gaoxing no longer sees so many raccoon cat names, and he politely thanks each person as usual. Then, he grabs the little skateboard that Li Pu has bought for him and performs a skateboarding trick in front of the camera for the generous viewers.

Then, someone sends him a more valuable gift.

This time, the name is finally different.

@TheBeautifulGirlWhoRaisesParrots: 【Can we connect with the host? What’s the requirement? I want to share my experience raising parrots, please, please, qaq.】

Bai Gaoxing glances at the username. It is now at the top of his gift list.

Well… the problem is… he doesn’t really have that much experience.

Bai Gaoxing thinks about the few times he’s connected with people via lottery draws during his learning live streams. This is the first time someone requests a connection through gift voting by grabbing the top spot.

But after checking the time, he declines.

"Sorry, not this time."

【It looked to the side!!! There must be someone next to it.】

【I’m convinced! He used Dabai to refuse? How much does he not want to show himself!】

【It’s just a gimmick.】

In reality, he just glances at the clock! Watching the barrage of "conspiracy theories," Bai Gaoxing can’t help but admire netizens' wild imaginations. If Li Pu suddenly comes back, would they think someone has broken in and robbed the house too?

Unexpectedly, @TheBeautifulGirlWhoRaisesParrots isn’t deterred and asks again: 【Then, can we connect next time?】

Next time...

Considering how rare this opportunity is, Bai Gaoxing sighs helplessly and responds, "Not sure! I don’t know when the next time will be."

@TheBeautifulGirlWhoRaisesParrots: 【It’s okay; I can wait!】

Strange...

Bai Gaoxing tilts his head. It seems like this person has something important to discuss, but she doesn’t know he’s just a parrot. There really isn’t much he can do to help.

He nods and gives a brief reply: "Okay~"

Time flies by during the stream, and Bai Gaoxing prepares to log off early so he can tweak some settings and browse the internet.

After saying goodbye to the viewers, he goes to his personal profile to change his listed location.

He changes "The Movie Emperor’s Home" to "On Earth"!

With his parrot claws clumsily tapping at the keyboard, he struggles to type the words correctly. Even though parrot claws are fairly dexterous, they often hit other keys by mistake, leading to typos.

After a painstaking effort, he finally manages to make the change.

Just as Bai Gaoxing breathes a sigh of relief, a bright red private message notification appears on his screen.

@LililililiCat: 【Hello, may I ask… are you Li Pu himself?】

Thump.

Bai Gaoxing’s heart leaps into his throat.

At the same time, in Li Pu’s fan group, someone notices the change to the profile information.

【I think—】 someone says seriously. 【He’s feeling guilty.】
