While the latest discovery that "the streamer behind the Live streaming might be Li Pu himself" quickly spreads within a small group of fans, Li Pu undergoes a routine check-up on the ninth floor of the City Central Hospital.
A young man in a white coat takes off his glasses, rubs his eyes, and puts them back on before officially confirming Li Pu’s condition.
"It seems you've been sleeping well recently."
Li Pu shows a somewhat helpless smile. "Unfortunately, I still haven't been able to completely stop taking the medications."
"But the dosage can be reduced." An Xin raises an eyebrow. "What do you expect? You have to take it step by step. Don’t worry, this is a good sign."
Li Pu nods and looks at the pot of succulents by the window.
A tuft of fur, with a bit of white fluff—it looks oddly familiar.
Before he can figure out why, An Xin finishes writing the medical record and jokes, "If I'd known having a pet would be this good for you, I’d have given you a 'doctor’s order' for it sooner."
Li Pu turns his gaze back, a trace of confusion in his eyes. "Are you sure it's because of that?"
"Almost certain." An Xin twirls his pen in hand. "Your agent contacts me and says you didn’t look so good during your previous vacations."
This isn’t the first time Lei Li has been concerned about his psychological health. Li Pu nods slightly but can’t help thinking, Is it really that obvious?
He hasn’t noticed anything during his day-to-day life, but now that he thinks about it, his mindset has indeed become much more relaxed since Dabai came into his life.
Noticing Li Pu’s confusion, An Xin explains further. "It may sound surprising, but many people like you show significant improvement after getting a pet. Their attention gets diverted, their brain receives positive external stimuli, they feel more relaxed, less stressed... But the most important factor is companionship." Dr. An, who is familiar with Li Pu’s habits, adds, "Since you live alone, Dabai’s impact on you is even greater."
Li Pu nods again.
"Alright, we’re done for today." An Xin submits the electronic medical record with satisfaction and turns around. "Anything else you want to ask?"
Li Pu thinks for a moment and then asks, "Will a parrot get sick if it eats too much human food?"
An Xin: "..."
With a smile, he replies, "Mr. Li, I’m not a veterinarian."
...
At home, in front of the computer, Bai Gaoxing stares at the private message for a long time, unable to come back to his senses.
After a long time, his claws twitch unconsciously, and he moves the cursor upward.
His heart pounds, the loud thumping almost audible, with ringing in his ears and dizziness—symptoms of extreme nervousness.
About a minute later, another private message comes through:
@Xiaolililili Cat: Sorry! We were just asking casually. If it's not true, sorry for the bother. If it is, please don't mind us. We were just a little excited. 【crying.jpg】
We…?
Bai Gaoxing keenly notices their choice of words. In an instant, a bunch of IDs with “raccoon cat” or “Li cat” flash through his mind, and suddenly, he realizes the truth.
Wait, are they all Li Pu's fans!?
Bai Gaoxing is so shocked his face turns pale. So these people have already noticed him? And now they've entered his live stream?
But he has only streamed twice, counting today!
Bai Gaoxing frantically tries to figure out where he might have slipped up, but no matter how hard he thinks, he can't figure it out.
His account barely has any popularity—he has only ten fans at first. Even though it is a verified account, it should have been totally unknown. And during his first live stream, Li Pu doesn’t show his face or speak, so no one should have made the connection. He even adjusts the camera carefully, making sure no significant background shows.
Bai Gaoxing lowers his beak onto the table and buries his head, refusing to face reality.
He knew it! He shouldn't have been so careless earlier! Fans are such a formidable force—they can detect even the smallest hints, so how could they not notice any traces?
Careless!
As the tension mounts, Bai Gaoxing’s mind becomes strangely clear. He thinks: What if Li Pu's fans really figure out that "this account belongs to Li Pu"?
It seems... nothing terrible would happen, right?
At most, it spreads like wildfire on the internet, with people telling each other that the movie star has started live streaming. But they wouldn’t actually know the person behind the account is him.
And as for Li Pu, who rarely checks public platforms, he probably remains oblivious—unless there’s some pop-up ad. But given how clean Li Pu keeps his phone and laptop, the chances of him noticing are slim.
The only wildcard here is Li Pu's agency.
If they see Li Pu suddenly involved in something like this, they surely step in, right? At the very least, they remind him. After all, Li Pu has no experience with this. Or maybe they just come straight to him and ask what’s going on with the live streaming.
For the first time, Bai Gaoxing truly understands the phrase, "fortune favors the bold."
Except in this case, it’s not fortune he’s after—it's survival!
He can’t help but wonder: if he confesses to being human after completely losing trust, would Li Pu still believe him…?
He probably would, right? After all, he has been acting pretty smart so far.
But the intelligence level of a Wutong parrot is practically a glitch. After thoroughly researching it, Bai Gaoxing discovers that a gifted Wutong parrot, with proper training, can not only master advanced skills like “hearing a keyword and responding with a brief, logical reply” (something considered high-level for other parrot species) but can also go a step further, engaging in coherent long conversations and even recognizing simple words.
It’s similar to how a Border Collie, the smartest dog breed, can ring a bell on command. With training and enough exposure to text, images, and sounds, it’s possible. But it requires a lot from the parrot itself. Not every parrot is capable of this—only the truly gifted ones.
So, if Bai Gaoxing wants to differentiate himself from an ordinary "parrot," he needs to act even smarter and more human!
Bai Gaoxing puffs out his chest a little more. After much deliberation, he concludes that actions are more reliable than words.
But the most pressing issue now is... how should he reply to this private message?
He stares at the blinking cursor, unsure if the other side will show "typing" like a certain goose app, but he is certain they are just as nervous as he is right now.
This is tough. He can’t respond well, but he also can’t leave it unanswered.
Bai Gaoxing is still concerned about Li Pu’s public image. This is a fan, after all, and it wouldn’t look good if he seems cold and distant.
After mulling it over for a long time, he hesitantly chooses a neutral, somewhat cute emoji—nothing too revealing—and sends it.
Then he immediately logs off and turns off the computer!
He hopes that Li Pu's fans, being in sync with their idol, will understand what this subtle message means!
Bai Gaoxing is heartbroken, though, because the live stream lasts only forty minutes instead of his planned two-hour session.
【He admits it!】 Someone in the fan group posts a screenshot. 【Isn’t this the default confirmation?!】
【What misunderstanding do you have about a cute smiley emoji… What if it’s not him?】 another fan refutes. 【It could just be an apologetic smile, meaning "it’s not me.】
【Do you really believe that? The account details all point to him.】
【But, wait… I remember Li Pu never uses emojis.】
The fans pause, thinking. It’s true—Li Pu’s way of speaking is blunt, almost to the point of making people choke, but it never involves cute emojis.
Then… could it be his assistant? I remember he has a very reliable assistant.】
【Let me ask again.】
【Hey, he’s offline now.】
Bai Gaoxing, after turning off the computer, paces around the living room, feeling anxious.
He imagines Li Pu getting a call from his company, becoming confused, then checking his phone and finding out that Bai Gaoxing has been secretly streaming on his account… and then—maybe it is time to think about how to confess later? Admitting to his mistake before getting caught could earn him some leniency.
But how would he convince Li Pu he’s actually human? Could he use a computer to prove it? But he might just get waved off as a troublemaker. First, he’d have to get Li Pu to listen quietly first—he needs to practice.
Bai Gaoxing clears his throat. “Li Pu. Ahem, Li Pu.” He takes a deep breath. “I need to tell you something; please don’t be angry.”
No, too forceful.
He softens his tone, "You~ mustn’t~ get angry~ hmm."
Ugh, too cringey.
But the tone seems just right. Coming from a little bird, it wouldn't feel too out of place. Li Pu probably wouldn’t hit him, right?
Bai Gaoxing is so absorbed in practicing his words that he doesn't even notice the door behind him opening. He murmurs to himself, “Li Pu, I want to tell you something. Don’t be angry—”
“What is it?” Li Pu's voice comes, laced with a faint smile, followed by the sound of the door closing.
The last syllable of "hmm" gets stuck in Bai Gaoxing's throat, nearly choking him.
“Cough cough cough cough!” He turns back in shock to see Li Pu walking in with something, looking relaxed and casual.
That smell—meat!?
Bai Gaoxing hesitates for a moment, and as Li Pu heads to the kitchen, he decides to put his confession aside. Eating is the most important thing in the world.
He climbs onto the back of the chair, ready to pounce on the plate as soon as Li Pu comes out!
In the kitchen, Li Pu cuts pig's trotters on the chopping board.
His fingers are slender and white, and even while holding a kitchen knife, he looks good. The slightly stained nails bear faint traces of blood, and his eyes are serious and focused on his task, radiating a certain charm.
It’s true what they say—men who can cook are handsome. Bai Gaoxing can’t help but agree.
Besides, if he could snap a picture of this, it would surely excite all the fans who admire Li Pu.
He’d get tons of likes!
It would be perfect to get a shot of him... Bai Gaoxing can’t help but scout out the best angle, realizing that Li Pu looks good from almost any angle.
Li Pu is unaware of the intense gaze fixed on him as he separates the tender meat from the bones, cuts the tough tendons into smaller pieces, and places a portion without sauce into a white porcelain bowl adorned with gray flowers.
With a soft "click," he sets the bowl on the table.
Bai Gaoxing's attention immediately snaps to it.
He recognizes that bowl. It is the one Li Pu used for him when he first arrived, practically his own personal dish.
Was Li Pu serving it to him? What does it mean…?
Bai Gaoxing stares at Li Pu, puzzled, then glances out toward the balcony.
Did the sun rise in the west today?
Looking back at the bowl, his eyes narrow with suspicion. Unlike before, he doesn’t rush toward it. Instead, he maintains a cautious distance.
The bowl is poisoned!
When Li Pu suddenly looks at him, Bai Gaoxing is startled to realize he has spoken out loud.
So… “It is, it is poisoned?”
Li Pu reaches out and gently taps Bai Gaoxing's head. The parrot's round, black eyes sparkle with “suspicion.”
However, it is indeed different from usual. Li Pu thinks about it and realizes he has often pushed Dabai away, so it makes sense for the parrot to be suspicious.
After his appointment with Dr. An, Li Pu stops by the pet hospital after leaving the city hospital to ask about Bai Gaoxing’s habit of sneaking human food.
The conclusion: as long as he doesn’t eat too much, it isn’t a big deal. Besides, Wutong parrots can handle small amounts of meat.
On the way back, he finds videos of parrots snatching food from their owners.
It shouldn’t be a problem.
Remembering how Dabai used to gaze eagerly at the table, he guesses the parrot prefers meat, so he decides to bring back some meat snacks.
It turns out to be the right choice.
As he watches the fluffy white ball almost bury its head in the bowl, Li Pu can’t help but poke its head, earning a gurgling response in return.
The pink hoof meat releases an irresistible aroma, and all Bai Gaoxing can think about is the delicious meal in front of him—perhaps it is his last supper? Anyway, let's have a full meal first.
When he finally savors the meat bits and slowly lifts his head from the bowl, Li Pu has already gone back to reading his script.
Bai Gaoxing licks the oil that has accidentally gotten onto his feathers with his tongue and grabs a napkin to wipe his paws, but it isn’t enough—the oil is all over his claws, and he has to go to the bathroom to wash them with soap.
However, his oily claws make them incredibly slippery, and several times, he nearly loses his grip at the faucet, struggling to get a small stream of water flowing.
After a lot of effort, he finally manages to clean his claws and flies back to the dining room, where Li Pu is already putting on an apron to prepare lunch.
Li Pu stands with his hands behind his back, tying the cloth belt of the apron around his waist, and then rolls up his sleeves.
Bai Gaoxing can’t help but stare at Li Pu’s waist, which looks particularly slender with the apron…
Noticing Bai Gaoxing watching him from behind, Li Pu offers him some attention. “Dabai, you can’t eat anymore.”
He assumes the parrot wants more meat, so he skillfully covers the dish on the table with a net.
Bai Gaoxing's eyelids twitch. What kind of image does Li Pu have of him? Is it really that bad?
“I’m done!” he declares confidently. “No more today!”
Li Pu nods but then pauses as if recalling something. “What did you want to say just now?”
Bai Gaoxing is taken aback
He stares at Li Pu in disbelief. Doesn’t this person usually avoid interacting with him? Why is he suddenly asking questions?
Could it be… that he has discovered something?
Bai Gaoxing carefully scrutinizes Li Pu’s expression. Although he isn’t skilled in reading performances, Li Pu appears completely normal, as if he hasn’t heard anything about his live stream.
If he loses his nerve and confesses now, would that be akin to self-destruction?
Just a moment ago, he felt confident and intended to leave Li Pu with an impression of being “extremely clever,” but now he feels deflated like a popped balloon.
He had decided to wait until he was completely exposed to confess, but should he say something now?
"..."
After a lengthy silence, Bai Gaoxing ultimately chooses to retreat.
The most sensible approach is to remain calm in the face of uncertainty!
At that final moment, he hesitates for what feels like ages and finally decides to sidestep the question.
lapping his wings nonchalantly, he casually greets, “Good morning.”
Li Pu glances at the bright, dazzling sky outside. It is nearly noon
… How silly of him.

I love this series, thank you for considering it, I love how the inner thoughts and their cute interactions
